Zionsville Indiana is located on the extreme southeastern border of Boone County Indiana - just northwest of Indianapolis Indiana. Zionsville is often referred to as an affluent suburb of Indianapolis. Zionsville's downtown area is village-style with a brick road on Main Street.

History of Zionsville

Zionsville began as a promotion by William Zion, The Old Town Hall in Zionsville Indiana a railway speculator who built a railway station on Elijah Cross' land. The town became chartered in 1852, and by the end of the decade had accumulated a population of 364. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln made a speech in what is now known as Lincoln Park. Zionsville obtained a reputation as a cultural center in the late 1800's when B.F. Clark opened up a hall with a stage. Many noted entertainers and orators appeared on this stage, including Susan B. Anthony and James Whitcomb Riley.

Shopping: Zionsville is known for the unique shops in downtown Zionsville. Many blocks on the Main Street have been given to these shops in order to create a village atmosphere. These shops feature antiques, modern fashion boutiques, cafes, and more.

Munce Art Center: This center is part of the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center. The Munce Art Center is a cultural resource for the community offering exhibits that feature emerging regional artists.
